General The TEII-FM-US-872 manufactured by Tipton Environmental International, Inc. is a flowmeter and 10 circular paper chart recorder with the capability of displaying the current flow rate and/or accumulated total. The flowmeter sensor is housed in a type 4X hose-proof weather protected enclosure and the electrical controls with the chart recorder are installed in a NEMA 4 painted steel enclosure. Background The TEII-FM-US-872 ultrasonic sensor is an ultrasonic level sensing
device used to transmit the flow rate of a liquid in an open channel
configuration. The unit is positioned over the surface of the liquid
upstream from a measuring weir or flume. A series of high frequency
sound waves are generated during the "send" portion of the
cycle. The sound waves travel through the air space between the face
of the Sender/Receiver (S/R) unit and the liquid surface. The sound
waves strike the liquid surface, are reflected, travel back to the
S/R unit, and are detected during the "receive" portion
of the cycle. The time elapsing between "send" and "receive"
is measured and corrected for speed of sound variations due to ambient
temperature variations, and is used by the instrument to calculate
the crest level. The sensor produces a 4-20 mA signal that is linearly
proportional to flow rate. Installation The TEII-FM-US-872 ultrasonic level sensor is to be secured into
position via a 2 NPT coupling. Electrical controls for the sensor
shall be housed in a NEMA 4 painted steel enclosure which can be wall
mounted. Clearly labeled terminal blocks will allow for easy field
wiring connections. Features
