Molded spherical type rubber expansion joints are most
commonly found in tough demanding applications as found in: Food Processing Systems,
Industrial Process Piping Systems, HVAC Hot Water & Chiller Lines and
Water/Waste-Water Piping Systems. Our Series 240/242 products are manufactured and
inventoried in single (240) and double (242) spherical arch configurations and come in a
variety of elastomers such as butyl, EPDM, Hypalon®, FDA-Nitrile, Neoprene, Nitrile and
Teflon® lined to meet chemical, heat or abrasive conditions.
Additional Features and Benefits:
The Series 240 and 242 rubber expansion joints are engineered in a molded style design
thus making them inherently stronger than the conventional hand-built "Spool"
types. Internal pressure within a sphere is exerted in all directions, distributing forces
evenly over a larger area. The spherical design "flowing arch" reduces
turbulence, sediment build up, thrust area and the effects of thrust on piping system
equipment.
Greater movements are available with the Series 240/242 products as compared to the
movements of conventional hand built spool types. These products have lower spring rates
and are also easier to install in non-standard openings, caused by equipment shifting or
settling.
Easy product installation is made available with alignable metallic rotating ring flanges.
The Series 240/242 expansion joints are manufactured with floating metallic flanges which
freely rotate on the bellow, compensating for mating flange misalignment and speed up
installation time. Tapped holes are also standard on our designs which eliminates the
added bolting costs.
The Series 240/242 spherical rubber expansion joints are manufactured by high pressure
molding of elastomer and high tensile fabric reinforcement. This process allows for
thinner wall construction thus creating lower spring forces required to
compress/extend/offset the expansion joint thus reducing stress on related
piping/flange/equipment. (The Style 240/242A and 240/242C expansion joints are acceptable
for use with plastic piping systems where even lower deflection forces are required.)
All spherical 240 and 242 rubber expansion joints are furnished complete with plated
carbon steel flanges and are tapped to ANSI 150# standards. Stainless steel flanges are
also available on special order. In addition, other drilling standards such as ANSI
250/300#, BS10, DIN and JIS are available from stock and are listed in our brochure. |
