Description:
This facility is used to treat the wastewater from homes which surround a subdivision's
golf course. These are large homes which average 400 gallons per day, per home.
Because the flow fluctuates with peaks exceeding 4-5 times the average design flow
rate, a complete flow equalization system was incorporated into the design of the
facility. In addition, the aeration zones were oversized to meet the
ammonia-nitrogen discharge requirements. Because the effluent limitations on BOD and
suspended solids were stringent, mechanical sludge collection was used. To reduce
the BOD and suspended solids levels, a rapid sand tertiary treatment system was also
incorporated. Our crew delivered and installed the complete system as shown in the
photograph above. The photograph shows some of the crew still at the site during the
installation period. |
